Barrel jeans, a boxy jacket, a sharp trouser. Pair a sneakerina with leggings and a hoodie and it reads as "just left Pilates"; pair it with a tailored trouser and it reads as the most current flat of 2026.
The shape arrived through the Puma Speedcat and adidas Taekwondo revivals, Miu Miu's New Balance collaboration and Vivaia's square-toe knit versions. The proportion rule
Soft shoe, structured layer. Every outfit below has one crisp element above the ankle: a barrel jean, a boxy jacket, a tailored short, a straight trouser. The single exception is the all-soft "walking to class" look, which works only in one color.

Socks with ballet sneakers
A fine ribbed crew in gray, white or black, showing one to three centimeters above the topline, is the standard. Sheer socks work with the low-profile Iris. Avoid thick sport socks, which push the foot up out of a low vamp. For the mary jane sneaker, a plain white crew under the strap.
Sizing and fit
Sneakerinas sit lower on the foot than a trainer, so the heel is the fit point: your heel should not lift when you walk. Iris and Aria run EU 35 to 40 (US 4 to 9 on the size selector) and true to size; Velvet Barre runs EU 35 to 40 and true to size with room for a ribbed sock. A mesh upper (Iris) gives a little; a pleated fabric upper (Velvet Barre) gives more; if between sizes, go down for both.
Care
- Mesh: soft brush, mild soap and water, air dry away from heat.
- Pleated fabric and velvet-look: brush with the pile; spot-clean only.
- Brushed vegan suede (Aria): suede brush; a rubber eraser for marks.
- Rubber soles: magic eraser or an old toothbrush.
Puma, adidas, Vivaia, Miu Miu and us
The Puma Speedcat ($100) and adidas Taekwondo ($100) are the low-profile originals and are sneakers first. Miu Miu's New Balance 530 collaboration ($1,000-plus) pushed the sneakerina into fashion. Vivaia's square-toe knit sneakerinas ($100 to $140) are the washable middle. Ours are $75 to $85, vegan, and lean toward the ballet side: a square toe on Iris, a pleated vamp and crossed straps on Velvet Barre, a mary jane strap on Aria.
