If you are searching for a Gucci loafers dupe, there is no honest way to match the horsebit for under $75, but you can match the silhouette: a low slip-on shape, a polished upper and, on the Prada side, a chunky sole. We make four vegan loafers from $68.99 to $72.99 that do that, and none of them has a horsebit.
At one large US retailer in October 2026, Gucci's women's loafers were listed at about $745 to $1,200 and Prada's at about $995 to $1,450 (US dollars throughout), and every Gucci loafer on those pages was leather, suede, shearling or GG canvas. Most roundups skip the material and sizing and quote old prices. This guide goes silhouette by silhouette, dates every price, and says what carries over and what does not. Ours borrow a general shape only: they are our own designs, with no bit, plaque or logo from anyone else.
Quick look: Gucci loafers dupe options, vegan and under $75
| Silhouette | Ours | Price | Upper and sole | EU sizes | Shares with Gucci or Prada |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chunky platform loafer | Talia | $68.99 | Plain black vegan upper, thick platform sole | 34 to 40 | A Prada Monolith's chunky sole, no hardware |
| Pleated slip-on loafer | Perrine | $72.99 | Black vegan patent, pleated apron, penny strap | 35 to 40 | A Gucci Jordaan's low profile and polish |
| Plain split-toe loafer | Ashen | $68.99 | Smooth black, flat sole, no hardware | 35 to 40 | A clean, logo-free loafer; the split is ours |
| Monk-strap split-toe loafer | Rue | $72.99 | Crinkled black vegan upper, silver-tone buckle | 35 to 40 | Metal across the vamp, but a buckle, not a bit |
Gucci horsebit loafer dupe: what we do not make, and what carries over
We do not make a horsebit loafer, a bit mule like the Princetown, or a convertible loafer like the Brixton. If the bar across the vamp is the point for you, our shoes will disappoint you.
What carries over is the low profile, the slip-on shape, a polished upper (Perrine) and, from Prada, a thick chunky sole (Talia). What does not is the hardware, the leather upper, lining and sole that Gucci lists on its Jordaan and Brixton, the Italian make, and a horsebit loafer story that dates to 1953.
For real bit hardware, Sam Edelman and Steve Madden make loafers at higher prices than ours. For another vegan option, Will's Vegan Store's Track Sole loafer was about $114 in a January 2024 roundup (recheck).
Chunky platform loafers: Prada Monolith alternatives and Gucci lug sole loafer dupes
Prada's Monolith lug-sole loafer was listed at about $1,270 in October 2026, in brushed Italian calfskin on a rubber sole. Gucci's version, the Harald horsebit platform loafer, showed as sold out with no price on the page we read. The shared idea is a plain upper on a thick sole.

Talia Platform Loafers
The plain chunky pick: rounded upper, no hardware, thick platform sole. $68.99, EU 34 to 40.
Talia has no tassel, penny strap or stitching pattern, so the sole does the work, and it is cut to be worn with a visible sock. If you want a lug sole with bit hardware, Steve Madden's Lando is the pair to look at, though it showed as unavailable on the pages we checked in October 2026.
Classic slip-on loafers: Gucci Jordaan and Brixton dupes
The Gucci Jordaan Bit Loafer was about $1,050 in October 2026, with a smooth calfskin upper and a leather lining and sole. The Brixton, also about $1,050, has a collapsible heel that converts it to a mule. Both carry the horsebit and both are leather. If you want a Gucci Brixton loafer dupe, the convertible heel is the part we skip.

Perrine Pleated Loafers
Black vegan patent with a gathered apron, a penny strap and a low stacked heel. $72.99.
Perrine is our closest polished classic: soft and unstructured, with a low stacked heel and a pleated front. Its penny strap is a traditional loafer detail, not a horsebit. For a bit loafer nearer Gucci's hardware, Sam Edelman's Loraine is the pair most roundups name, at about $150 to $170 (checked October 2026) with a textile or leather upper depending on color.
Plain split-toe loafers: the minimalist option
This is not a Gucci or Prada shape. The split toe comes from the tabi tradition covered in our Margiela tabi alternatives guide. We include it because some shoppers looking at designer loafers really want a clean black slip-on with no logo, and Ashen is that, with the toe as its only detail.

Ashen Tabi Loafers
Split toe and nothing else: smooth black, flat sole, no hardware. $68.99.
A divided toe pairs best with a divided sock, and the ribbed crew socks below are cut for it. New to the shape? See tabi loafers vs tabi flats.
Monk-strap split-toe loafers: hardware without a horsebit
Rue is the loafer here with metal on the vamp: a monk strap with a square silver-tone buckle, white contrast topstitching, a split toe and a low stacked heel, in a soft, lightly crinkled black vegan upper with a glossy finish. It sits where Gucci puts its bit, but it is a buckle on a strap, a different design.

Rue Black Tabi Loafers
The hardware option: split toe, monk strap, square silver-tone buckle and white topstitching. $72.99.
Socks to wear with these loafers: sheer, ribbed or knee-high
A visible sock is the quickest way to make a plain black loafer look current, and Talia is cut to be worn that way. Sheer socks suit Talia and Perrine, where the ankle shows through.

Aeris Sheer Mesh Socks
Sheer mesh at mid-calf that disappears inside the shoe; black, gray, white or light blue. $14.99.
Ribbed crew socks hold their line, and their divided toe matches the split of Ashen and Rue.

Ribbed Crew Tabi Socks
Ribbed crew height with a split toe, in black, heather gray or milky white. $14.99.
Knee-high socks under a mid-length skirt make the length look deliberate.

Knee High Tabi Socks
Ribbed the whole way and long enough to sit just under the knee, with a split toe. $16.99.
Brands like Gucci loafers: the honest comparison
| Brand | Loafer styles | Price (checked October 2026) | Material | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gucci | Jordaan, Brixton, Horsebit 1953, Emily, Harald | About $745 to $1,200 | Leather, suede, shearling or GG canvas | Jordaan and Brixton made in Italy |
| Prada | Monolith lug sole, penny and other loafers | About $995 to $1,450 | Brushed Italian calfskin and other leather | Slightly narrow; reviewers report a shoe horn and a long break-in |
| Sam Edelman | Loraine bit loafer | About $150 to $170 | Textile or leather upper by color | Real hardware; Medium and Wide widths |
| Steve Madden | Lando (bit hardware, lug sole), Langsten penny loafer | About $99 (Langsten); Lando unavailable when checked | Leather on the pairs we read | Lando true to size per reviews; Langsten runs small, so size up half |
| Lil Cacti | Talia, Perrine, Ashen, Rue | $68.99 to $72.99 | All vegan | No horsebit; free shipping on orders over $90 |
Gucci loafer vs Sam Edelman Loraine: the Jordaan is leather throughout at about $1,050, while the Loraine costs a fraction of that, is the better-known stand-in for bit hardware and comes in two widths, which we do not offer.
Choose Gucci or Prada for leather, a heritage name and a pair to look after for years; a leather sole is the kind a cobbler can replace. Choose Sam Edelman or Steve Madden for real bit hardware at a fraction of the cost. Choose us for vegan, a split toe or a chunky sole under $75. Other vegan labels, such as NAE and Alohas, list loafers from about $90 to $111 in a January 2024 roundup (recheck), and few go below $75.
Are Gucci loafers worth it, and are they vegan?
They can be worth it. The Jordaan has a smooth calfskin upper, and reviewers say the leather molds to the foot with wear. Worn for years, the cost per wear is defensible; for one season, less so. They are not vegan: Gucci has an animal-free material, Demetra, introduced in 2021 on sneakers, but we found no loafer made from it in October 2026.
Sizing and fit: Gucci, Prada and ours
Retailer reviews in October 2026 describe the Gucci Jordaan as mostly true to size with some batch variation, the Brixton as true to size but slightly narrow, and the Prada Monolith as slightly narrow. Advice on sizing up or down conflicts, so read the reviews for the pair you want.
| Style | EU sizes | If you are between sizes |
|---|---|---|
| Talia | 34 to 40 | Check the size chart on the product page |
| Perrine | 35 to 40 | True to size; the soft upper gives slightly with wear |
| Ashen | 35 to 40 | Size up if between sizes or wider-footed |
| Rue | 35 to 40 | Size up if between sizes or wider-footed; the split toe box runs slightly narrower than a round toe, so give it a day to settle |
For the split-toe pairs, see our tabi sizing guide. Ours are sold by EU size only, with no separate widths, so measure first with our guide to measuring foot width at home. Care is simple: a soft damp cloth, dried away from direct heat, and no leather conditioner. Full steps are in our guide to cleaning vegan leather shoes.
Frequently asked questions

What is the best alternative to Gucci loafers under $100?
For vegan, the four loafers here, all under $75. Horsebit-style loafers under $100 are rare: Steve Madden's Lando showed as unavailable at the retailers we checked in October 2026, and Sam Edelman's Loraine starts around $150.
